Information Systems & Supply Chain Management (BS) Supply Chain Management


The MISSION of the Supply Chain Management concentration is to contribute to the educational focus of the Information Systems and Supply Chain Management Department by providing students the best possible preparation for careers in a global, technology-driven environment. The SCM program prepares students to utilize various information concepts, technologies and tools, delivering enhanced business productivity. These technologies and tools investigate and improve a variety of supply chain areas, including procurement, transportation, operations, inventory, warehousing, and logistics management. Hands-on project(s) will be a crucial component of each student's learning experience.

Learning Outcomes

Develop Project Management
Develop Project Management knowledge, skills and technology-capability with Dimensions:
1. Apply appropriate techniques in the planning and scheduling of projects including calculating a project's critical path time and most efficient project crashing approach.
2. Utilize Microsoft's Project Management software to schedule a project and analyze its resource requirements.
Specific assignment involves the use of Microsoft’s Project Management to plan and schedule a series of activities as part of an exam.

Information Technology Tools
Utilize a variety of Information Technology Tools with Dimensions:
1. Productively use office software suites, with an emphasis on spreadsheets and other analytical applications.
2. Document and present appropriate findings through various presentations software applications.Excel is used to calculate costs for two different business situations, and then produce a formal report.

Process Analysis
Apply process analysis to document supply chain management components and process improvements with Dimensions:
1. Apply business process analysis methods to document and analyze the customer fulfillment processes in companies, and recommend process improvement ideas.
2. Apply manufacturing and/or distribution planning and control techniques to supply chain operations, and understand the linkages between the various techniques. Case analysis requires student to determine a series of quantitative and qualitative solutions.

Supply Chain Management methods and techniques
Apply appropriate Supply Chain Management methods and techniques to analysis a variety of business problems with Dimensions:
1. Identify relevant issues in Logistics and Transportation Management, and recommend a course of action.
2. Analyze a variety of Warehouse and Distribution Center operations, and recommend a course of action.
3. Utilize Information Technology tools and techniques to manage the flow of materials within the supply chain. The Cool Connection simulation requires students to analyze a series of financial, operations, supply chain, and procurement opportunities, and select the best alternatives to produce positive ROI.
