Computational Mathematics (PhD)

The mission of the Doctoral Program in Computational Mathematics is to provide students with a solid foundation in the major areas of mathematics , an understanding for the structures, theories, and computational aspects of advanced mathematics and a demonstrated ability to original research.

Learning Outcomes

Broad Understanding
Students demonstrate broad understanding by reproducing results and definitions at the introductory PhD level.

In-Depth Study
Students discover new results and defend these results in a specific area of computational mathematics that goes beyond the introductory PhD level.

Synthesis and Written Communication
Students combine their knowledge from graduate course work, individual readings, and their own original research and communicate this research and its significance in writing.

Oral Communication
Students defend their research findings orally.
