Psychology (MA)


The mission of the MA graduate program in general experimental psychology is to provide students with the knowledge of theory and approaches and skills in research and design necessary to continue with their education in a PhD program.

Learning Outcomes

Students will develop a deep understanding of the three basic approaches to psychology that are represented by our Psychology (PhD program)
In understanding this material, they will demonstrate – in written and oral communication – a factual and conceptual mastery of the major concepts, methods, and theories/principles of these areas.

Research and Methodological Skills
Students will become proficient in the design and interpretation of scientific research and will be able to evaluate the design and statistics of published papers using measures and statistics that are typical for the field. They also will develop competence in the implementation of scientific research, including the ethical standards for conducting research.

Successful Placement
The MA program is designed to prepare students to continue their education in doctoral-degree-granting program or to work in a psychology-related profession.

Effective Communication
Students will demonstrate an ability to effectively comprehend, synthesize, and interpret scientific research. They will also develop, produce, and write about independent or collaborative research products.
