Gerontology (MS) Aging and Business

Mission


Graduates of the Master's Gerontology Program with the Business and Aging option are prepared to be leaders in the gerontological professional and business community who through program evaluation, policy development, and knowledge of social and economic opportunities promote socially responsible business practices, products, and services advancing the quality of lives for older adults and their families through community, state, national and international venues.

Learning Outcomes
Apply the evidence base for gerontological practice in writing
Graduates will be able to apply the evidence base for sound gerontological practice in writing using appropriate research methods.

Apply the evidence base for gerontological practice orally
Graduates will be able to apply the evidence base for sound gerontological practice in effective oral presentations (including clear, logical organization of material and appropriate use of technology for visual aids).

Describe the implications of the aging of the population.
Graduates will be able to describe aging from an integration of biopsychosocial and economic perspectives as well as the critical issues related to financial, policy, and cultural perspectives of an aging society.

Serve as a leadership resource on aging
Graduates will be able to serve as a leadership resource person on aging for services, programs or organizations.

Apply business development skills in an aging-related services or products
Graduates will be able to apply business development skills to aging-related products or services.
