Mission


Graduates of the MS in Gerontology Program with the nonprofit management certificate are prepared to be in management leadership positions in non-profit environments and are able to advance the quality of lives for older adults and their families through community, state, national and international venues.

Learning Outcomes

Apply the evidence base for gerontological practice in writing
Graduates will be able to apply the evidence base for sound gerontological practice in writing using appropriate research methods.

Apply the evidence base for gerontological practice orally
Graduates will be able to apply the evidence base for sound gerontological practice in effective oral presentations (including clear, logical organization of material and appropriate use of technology for visual aids).

Describe the implications of the aging of the population.
Graduates will be able to describe aging from an integration of biopsychosocial and economic perspectives as well as the critical issues related to financial, policy, and cultural perspectives of an aging society.

Serve as a leadership resource on aging
Graduates will be able to serve as a leadership resource person on aging for services, programs or organizations.

Apply nonprofit management skills in an aging setting
Graduates will be able to apply nonprofit management skills in an aging setting. Skills include planning and evaluation of services, programs or organizations.
