Mission
The Mission of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro's Entry Level Master of Science degree program in Athletic Training is to integrate evidence-based education and practice to develop clinicians capable of advancing the quality of healthcare for athletes and physically active individuals.

Goals:

  1. The student will become a competent and skilled Certified Athletic Trainer.
  2. The student will demonstrate knowledge, skills, behaviors, and attitudes to achieve optimal health outcomes in diverse patient populations.
  3. The student will be able to critically analyze the athletic training body of knowledge and interpret its impact on the profession.

Learning Outcomes

Appropriate Healthcare in 5 Practice Domains of Athletic Training
Students will demonstrate competence in the 5 practice domains assessed in the BOC examination. They will demonstrate entry-level competency by performing at or above the national average in the areas of prevention and wellness; clinical evaluation and diagnoses; immediate and emergency care; treatment and rehabilitation; and administration, organization and professional health care.

Appropriate Healthcare Treatment for Body Regions, Patient Populations, Clinical Settings
Students will demonstrate entry-level competency for patient care and clinical decisions on body regions, patient populations, and clinical settings.

Interpret and Apply Evidence-based Medicine to Practice
Students will understand and apply the principles of evidence-based practice by becoming a consumer of literature and performing at a beginning professional level when presenting capstone experiences.

Real-time Assessment and Patient Care
Students will perform patient care and make clinical decisions in real-time.
