Kinesiology (EdD)

The Ed.D. in Kinesiology (EdD in KIN) at UNCG is an online, interdisciplinary, professional degree program specifically designed for practicing professionals who have a minimum of three years of professional experience and desire a doctorate that is focused on professional scholarship and practice (leadership, advocacy, and teaching) in Kinesiology.

The Vision of the Ed.D. Program is to prepare professionals at the highest level of excellence who are competent in the creation, synthesis, interpretation, and professional application of knowledge in leadership, advocacy, and teaching, and serve as stewards in the field of kinesiology.

The Mission of the EdD in KIN is to engage practicing KIN professionals in the scholarship of application, teaching, and engagement, and is intended to encourage students to address current issues in the field from an applied, interdisciplinary perspective and to develop action-oriented leaders in kinesiology.

Program Goals
EdD in KIN graduates will:
1. Integrate interdisciplinary knowledge to link theory with practice;
2. Apply interdisciplinary knowledge to enhance professional practice;
3. Demonstrate competencies for professional practice (e.g. leadership, advocacy, teaching).

Learning Outcomes

Interdisciplinary Knowledge
Students will integrate interdisciplinary knowledge in the field of Kinesiology.

Demonstrated skill in teaching
Students will demonstrate teaching skills within their chosen professional practice, including teaching in an online environment.

Knowledge application
Students will apply knowledge to develop a unique program, product, or approach that informs their professional practice.

Leadership and advocacy skills
Students will develop leadership and advocacy skills for professional practice in the field of Kinesiology.
