Community Health Education (PhD)

The PhD Program in Community Health Education at UNCG emphasizes community-engaged research in public health and health education and is designed to prepare students, both academically and professionally, to conduct and disseminate rigorous research and to teach in academic settings.

Learning Outcomes

Conceptualization of Public Health Issues
Students are able to understand how public health problems are created across the social ecology, applying theories at each level, and able to distinguish between issues of causality and association.

Research Skill Development
Students are able to develop relevant research questions to address public health problems. Use appropriate methods/measures/designs to answer the research questions. Conduct research studies including data collection, management, analysis, and manuscript/report development.

Independent Research
Students will apply the technical, conceptual, and communications skills required for independent research.
